How to earn MELTS to spend
You can either volunteer your time and services to other Music Time Bank members who have already earned Time Credits or by contributing your skilled time to the Music Time Bank community music programme, information about which can be found on our website and online forums, so please check regularly. Alternatively for every person that you get to register online with us you will receive half an hour of M.E.L.T.S. The person concerned must mention your name on their registration form. You can also earn time credits by helping to manage the Music Time Bank and/or any project with in the Music Time Bank.
What can I use my MELTS for?
MELTS can be used to pay for any musical services found on the musicmelts website. This includes people who play various musical instruments, live and recording engineers, promotion, mastering, production, event management, publicity, advice, teaching, and even demo/professional recordings. The Trinity Centre has just built a recording studio for Music Time Bank members to access with their Time Credits free of financial charge, although if booking availability is scarce then priority goes to those Music Time Bank members who have performed at Trinity and there is a 90 hour cap on each individuals access to this studio, however this arrangement is flexible and can be adjusted time to time by the Trinity Sound Studio Management Team to enable fair and sustainable access to the studio free of charge to Music Time Bank members. We anticipate more Pro end Studios and facilities to be on soon.
What can I lose?
Nothing, except your time which you gain back as M.E.L.T.S. Time Credits
It is the ethical belief of our organization that all people should be treated with equal respect. It is also our belief that misconduct is counter-productive and professional working guidelines are set out with our membership form's Terms and Conditions so as to protect you and others from harm.
Who can become a member?
Any one who wants too over the age of 18 years old for legal reasons however a Young Persons Music Time Bank members Scheme will be available for those under the age of 18 years so register anyway and we will keep you up to date and involve you too.
What's the catch?
The only drawback to this is that if you are to make any money using the Music Time Bank's resources or any of the other Music Time Bank members member's skills in this scheme you have to pay a percentage of that monetary income to contributing persons as agreed during the Music's creation and in accordance with copy right law and to help maintain the Music Time Bank resources for future successes.
This is made possible with the use of songwriters agreements (downloadable from our website) and our membership agreements which asks for a mere 5% of any personal revenue made using the Music Time Bank and associated facilities payable to Umbrella MELTS to be reinvested in the Music Time Bank's existing and future facilities and resources so we can continue to offer these services
However you still retain your intellectual property of the music its self and the majority of any money you make, after all it is you that will put the effort in to make it. Not a bad bargain for the help we provide.
